Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is the Towing Policy? It shall be unlawful for any tow truck or carrier to tow or to carry a vehicle on the highways and roadways of the state of Louisiana without the towing vehicle or carrier having displayed a towing license plate and complying with the rules and regulations adopted pursuant to this Chapter.
-
How does towing work with insurance?Towing is usually not covered by liability-only insurance plans. You should expect to pay upfront for any towing, including after an accident. However, if another driver was deemed at fault for the accident, their insurance should cover damages to your vehicle and may cover any towing expenses. Insurance companies may provide towing service. Therefore, it is significant to call your insurer first if you are involved in an accident with fatalities. Whether the accident involves one, five, or more cars, all the vehicles should be towed away.
